Mail-In Kit

If you can't get to one of our four Minnesota drop-off counters, this is the safest way to send us your media.

We would rather you hand your tapes to a person. That is why we staff four drop-off locations across the Twin Cities instead of running everything through the mail. But plenty of people can't make the drive, and we work with families well outside Minnesota — so if you are going to mail your memories, mail them properly.

The kit arrives at your door with:

• A padded shipping box — TODO: dimensions — rigid, double-walled, and sized so nothing rattles
• Protective bags for your tapes, discs, reels or photos, so nothing shifts or scuffs against anything else in transit
• A prepaid, tracked return label. You don't pay return postage and you don't have to work out what it costs

Pack it, seal it, and drop it at any carrier location. You get tracking from the moment it leaves your hands, and an email from us the moment it is checked in here.

How it works

1. Add the kit when you build your order — it ships within one business day
2. Pack your media in the bags, then the box
3. Stick on the prepaid label and drop it off
4. We email you at check-in, and again when your digital files are ready

One kit holds one order

A kit comfortably fits: roughly 30 tapes, or 500 photos, or equivalent. If you have more than that, please don't force it into one box. Email John at contact@familymediatransfer.com and we will arrange a larger shipment or a pickup. We would far rather ship you two boxes than have you overpack one.

Everything is inventoried the day it arrives, digitized here in Minneapolis by our own technicians, and shipped back to you with your originals.
