For Video: VHS, VHS-C, MiniDV, Hi8, Digital8, Betacam, DVCPro, and U-matic.

For Film: 8 & 16mm from 3"-16" reel size

For Photos: Photos, Negatives, and Slides of various size

How much can the box hold, and what happens if I have more than fits?

Each kit size is optimized to fit common arrangements. If your items do not fit, you are welcome to use the pre-paid label provided on a larger box.

How does pricing work and how are bulk discounts applied?

Discounting is baked into the pricing of our kit tiers and includes the convenience of a pre-paid box and label.

Is shipping both ways included, and is my package insured?

Yes—prepaid, trackable shipping both ways is included. Basic carrier coverage is provided; optional declared-value coverage is available if you’d like extra protection.

How do I pack my items safely using the materials provided?

Group like items, cushion with the provided padding (no loose-packed stacks), fill empty spaces to prevent shifting, seal the box, apply the prepaid label, and drop off with the carrier.

Are my tapes safe in the mail?

Yes, these media formats especially with casing are very durable and safe to ship.
We offer a secure shipping kit option and handle all media with care. If you're local, you can also drop off at Groth Music in Bloomington, MN.

What’s the typical turnaround time, and are rush options available?

Most kits are completed in 2–3 weeks from check-in. Film orders or high-volume kits may take 3–4 weeks. We'll keep you updated throughout the process.

In what digital formats will I receive my files, and how are they delivered (USB, download, cloud)?

Video as MP4, photos as JPEG (TIFF available by request), and audio as WAV/MP3. Delivery via secure download link; add a labeled USB drive if you prefer a physical copy.

Is the original media returned to me?

Yes! All of your tapes are safely returned after we digitize them. We treat your memories with care every step of the way.

Can you fix broken tapes?

Absolutely. We offer $15 tape repairs (like broken casing or snapped film). If your tape needs extensive restoration, we’ll let you know before proceeding.
